Cabrio engine room, including the original Tigar spare. This is what a 9k mile Yugo engine looks like.
Well, I'm sure there's at least one person who read this article:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
And thought, damn, is that all? How I wish there was more! Today's your lucky day, whoever you are. I dug thru my stash of pics (and there's a lot of them) and present the best ones. First up:
Huh. Apparently I had a bra at one time. Who puts a bra on a Yugo? Me, I guess.
Also, a better pic of the sweet rear-window louver, and one of the unlucky ones getting parted out.
Those are X1/9 wheels, in case you're wondering. There wasn't much available that fit the 4x98 bolt pattern but Fiat wheels were plentiful at the time.
While this was a GV Plus, I had given it all the extras and goodies I could find, including '86-only opening wing windows, aftermarket delay wipers, and a Frigette dealer-installed air conditioner, which kept my right knee cool as long as I kept the revs up. Way more trouble than it was worth. This must be early in my ownership of the car, as it still has the stock exhaust.
Parts car: just another GV. Apparently the doors and fenders were good.
More shots of the Cabrio. You can see the convenient trunk opening, good for about half a dead hooker. No wonder these never caught on. And the engine shot again.
The red air-cleaner top indicates that it's a 1300. The BIG engine, you better believe it. I think they were rated at 55 HP.
Only the battery is not original. So concours guys, here ya go.
I knew I had a pic of the 128 wagon. Looks like there was an issue with the windshield seal. Never did get this one to run, as I always had something else to mess with.
The red one came to me with a Fiat 1500 swapped in, along with the Strada 5-speed and equal-length halfshafts. No torque steer, or at least a hell of a lot less. This one would really move.
The silver one is a GVX, relieved of its plastic cladding. I probably yanked the seats, 5-speed and any other good bits before sending it on its way home. I know for a fact that its gas cap ended up on a Lambo LM002. I worked at an exotic-repair shop at the time, and the Lambo owner got a real kick out of having to use a Yugo key to unlock his gas cap. Also, it looks like I cut off another roof. Can't remember why. Maybe I wanted a bobsled.

You actually have me waxing nostalgic about Yugos. That is amazing! Keep this up and I might even start window-shopping craigslist for them.

After Nurse Ratchet gives me my shot, I'll see if I can find some more pics.

Okay, here's some more of the Speedster:
The mystery of how much I paid for it has been solved. Might have overpaid.
And here's the luxurious interior, so you know what a $50 Yugo looks like inside. The smell was one reason for cutting the top off.
And a shot of the Strada hood in place after all the blending and striping was done.
